THE EVER HUMBLE USTAD AMJAD ALI KHAN
One of the greatest exponents of Indian classical music is the Sarod wizard Ustad Amjad ALI Khan. He is not only known for his immeasurable knowledge in Indian classical music but also for his inherent humility and inclination towards worshiping the Almighty God.
HE WAS ONCE RETURNING TO Delhi from Calcutta in the early sixties. He had come to the railway station to take a train to Delhi after a concert; he realized that somebody had picked his pocket. He had to borrow money from the porter to pay the taxi driver.
When he entered the third class compartment, he borrowed money from a fellow passenger and gave it to the porter. During the journey, his food and other expenses were met over by the same noble hearted passenger.
When he reached Delhi, he borrowed money from a porter and gave it to the passenger. When he came out of the station he again borrowed money from a taxi driver to pay back the porter and finally, when he reached home he paid the taxi driver.
He says it is possible to travel in India with out money.
CLOCKS CAN MAKE YOU PROUD!!!
All of us love clocks and especially the old grandfather clock. These old clocks bring in a an alluring appearance to any home. Their contemporary style adds color to the whole place making it even better.
Clocks have also evolved into different types starting from the antique grandfather clocks, to the most modern atomic and digital clocks of today.
Though we have the most modern digital clocks in the being, many of us still love to have the grandfather clocks with us. Probably because it maybe connected to our old memories.
And for this reason, they have often been around for a long period of time and are used in homes throughout the centuries in very much the same capacity as they are used today.
The grandfather clocks and its designs that have retained their integrity throughout the generations and are still just as adored in modern homes as they were in the homes of our ancestors.
I have always wanted to own a grandfather clock, but i have been unlucky i could say. I still remember the beautiful clock which my uncle owned. He loved it and as kids he never used to let us near his clock. It was a beautiful, black colored, triple chime clock made of high quality Portugal teak. That particular clock was very dear to me too, as i used to visit my uncle very often during my school days, sneak through his room and gaze at the great clock.
Whatever the case, often just hearing that chime upon the hour is enough to send us into revelry of a childhood past. I would like to buy a grandfather clock now.
Luckily, I happened to browse through this wonderful website, www.1-800-4clocks.com/index.html which has a variety of very elegant clocks.
They also have a variety of my favorite grandfather clocks. Their Howard Miller Urban Floor II Grandfather Clock was highly captivating. It has a brown finish and is of contemporary elegance. A crisp, white dial features a nickel finished bezel and simply-styled hour markers and hands. The nickel finish continues on the doorknob, weights pendulum and the moldings at the base and the case has a nickel finished molding.
I am excited, to buy this clock as it has been a dream for me to own a grandfather clock.
They also have a blog which is entirely dedicated clocks. www.1-800-4clocks.com also own this blog exclusively dedicated clocks. It would be great through to read through the blog. I personally liked a post titled Take Clocks More Seriously in Terms of Décor.
